High School. It’s a crucial time in a young person’s life, filled with the excitement that comes with increased freedoms and responsibilities. Watertown-Mayer High School helps students make smart choices for their future. We have a strong educational program that includes rigorous college-prep courses and comprehensive vocational course offerings. Our graduation rate is typically above 97 percent—much higher than the national average.

Although we are proud of our excellent academic and extracurricular offerings, the true foundation for our success at Watertown-Mayer High School is our people. The effort of our faculty, staff, parents and community is tremendous. Their collective commitment makes our school a wonderful place to learn and grow.

College Bound
Over 60 University of Minnesota College in the Schools (CIS) credits are offered in a variety of subject areas, including: writing, literature, American government, economics, American history, German IV, anatomy/physiology, animal science, plant science, physics, pre-calculus, calculus, statistics, math modeling, career planning.
CIS is an honors program sponsored by the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities campus and St. Cloud State. Four years of world languages are also available to all interested students. In addition, a professional mentorship program is offered to high-level senior students who wish to work with a career mentor for a semester.

Making Music
Our music program features concert, varsity, and pep bands as well as concert and varsity choirs. Small groups include Advanced Placement music theory, jazz ensembles, chamber choir, and solo and ensemble contest participation.

Career and Technical Education
Watertown-Mayer High School also offers vocational certifications and tech prep college credits for the career and technical education bound student, including industrial technology, family and consumer science, business education, work experience and agricultural/horticulture education.

Awesome Activities
Student government and other service groups are an important part of student life at Watertown-Mayer. Surveys show that approximately 85 percent of our students participate in the wide variety of extracurricular activities offered, including drama, speech, music, athletics, FFA, Business Professionals of America, Knowledge Bowl, Mock Trial, and others. We have an all-weather lighted track and field complex, lighted football, soccer and softball fields, and an indoor swimming pool.

Academic Accolades
Watertown-Mayer High School was awarded by Minnesota Senator Mark Dayton for Excellence in Education in 2006. Additionally, in 2005 Governor Tim Pawlenty and Education Commissioner Alice Seagren recognized W-MHS as a Five Star School in mathematics and reading, which is the highest rating possible designated by the Minnesota Department of Education.
In 2012-13 Watertown-Mayer High School students were in the top 10 of the state for the number of CIS credits earned.
