When is Open House? The Royal Connections Conference is a pre conference opportunity for students and paremunicate about each student's strengths and needs. Royal Connections will be held on Monday, August 31st from 11:30 AM to 7:30 PM and Tuesday, September 1st from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Scheduling links were shared via email at 3:00 PM Monday, August 24th.
When will students know who their teacher is? Teacher assignments were sent to families on Monday, August 24th via email.
How will we pick up school supplies that were ordered? Supplies will be available at Royal Connections
Where will students keep their supplies? Supplies will be kept in the classroom in their individual bins.
Will lockers be used? Lockers will be used for backpacks and jackets during in-person learning. Teachers will stagger times for students to get their items from the lockers.
Getting to/from School
When will we be informed of bus assignments? Bus route information was sent to families from Koch Bus Company during the week of August 17th. For more information or questions call 952-955-1866
What are the drop off and pick up procedures? Drop off is located on Robert Street. Drop off begins at 7:50. Students will not be allowed out of the cars until 7:50.
Can parents drop off elementary students early? No, there will not be supervision for students who are dropped off early. Students may be dropped off beginning at 7:50.
What are end of day procedures for parent pick up? Parents will pick up at the designated area on Robert Street. They will use the drop off/pick up number to pick up their child. The number must be displayed in the window for pick up.
Typical School Day
Will all classes be held inside? Any outdoor learning space being considered? Teachers have the option to hold classes outside while encouraging social distancing.
How will students be able to use bathrooms at non-bathroom breaks? Students will be allowed to use the bathroom if needed. They will be encouraged to use the bathroom during their designated breaks.
Will there be social distancing put in place in the classrooms, hallways, schools? With the in-person model we will encourage social distancing but it is not required.
Can my child wear a face shield? Face masks are the preferred face covering, but face shields are allowed.
How many students will be in a classroom? 20-25 depending on grade level
Will masks be worn at recess? Masks will not need to be worn during recess breaks. Students will put masks back on when returning to the building.
How often will recess be held? Students will have two recesses per day and students will attend recess with their class in designated areas
Will students be leaving the classroom for classes such as art, music, PE, and library? What will these classes look like? Students will leave for PE and art. Music and Innovation Hour will go to the classroom to start the class. Media has evolved to Innovation Hour. This time will be used to reinforce learning management systems, learn about digital literacy, Science Technology Engineering and Math (STEM) lessons, coding and green screen work. Social emotional learning will also be reviewed in this class.
What will the hallways look like? Directional arrows? Transitions have been reduced to minimize the amount of students in the hallway.
How will breakfast and lunch be served? Breakfast will be a grab and go system. The students will get their breakfast from the lunchroom and bring it to the class to eat. Lunch will be delivered to students for purchase in classrooms. Students will eat meals in the classrooms. Can students bring lunch from home? Yes, students can bring lunch from home as they have in the past. All meals will be eaten in the classroom.
How will my child receive meals when they are not in school on their distance learning days? Breakfast and lunch will be available to all students requesting during distance learning. Meals will be available for purchase and pick up at two locations daily: Watertown-Mayer High School (Door 6) from 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM Mayer Community Center from 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM
Can I start my child in distance learning and then have them placed in the In-Person model at a later time? We are requesting that students stay in their chosen learning model until the end of the first semester, on January 15th.
What type of device do I need for my elementary student? The Watertown-Mayer Technology plan does not require students in K-4 to bring a device to school. Our K-4 classrooms are equipped with one device per student. Students in kindergarten and 1st grade will receive an iPad and students in 2nd through 4th grade will receive a Chromebook. Devices will go home in the event of a hybrid or distance learning model.
